May 6th 2008
Submitted by allotment on 2008, May 6 - 22:24.Its been staggeringly hot today and we've been planting stuff out- Beth has
planted Chrysanthemums, French Marigolds and Cosmea together with some dwarf
Pinks whilst i've planted out some Brussels, red cabbage and lettuce and set
some sage and marjoram from seed.
I didn't bother with photos today because transplanted plants always look sad
for a day or two.
Theres some very leggy Lilac in the secret garden, and we bought a bunch home

the lilac is in the far corner behind the shed! This photo was taken on bank
holiday monday- as were all the following pics- except for this one

which was taken back in April just to show that we can get the car down when
the weather is good.

Two views of the spectacular display of tulips

I think the onions are due a weeding

Aprils seeds are sprouting nicely

and the greenhouse is coming along nicely.
More soon-
Happy digging

How it all began
Submitted by allotment on 2008, May 4 - 17:50.It started as a dream last September- our own little bit of land to sit in- and
maybe even to grow a bit of fruit and veg together with some nice flowers.

This is what we got- plot 89 on the Whipcord Land colony. The council cleared
it with a jcb, and we had a shed built.

the sight was thick with blackberries, and even now we are still digging out
blackberry crowns, but we should at least have a good crop.
In their infinite wisdom, the council workmen left the cleared top soil in a
bank towards the back of the plot. Behind this bank is our 'secret garden' which
has Lilac, Gooseberry and no fewer than six fruit trees.

We also now have plot 92 opposite the original land, and will have both plots
very full by next year.

This is the 1st bit of dug and cleared soil--- it was going to be a herb
garden, but now holds broad beans that are nearly coming into flower!

Finally a few of our seed beds taken from near the Peas!
Ps--- has anyone got a recipe for blackberry wine.

Beggars Bailiff
Submitted by pixiedancer on 2007, March 5 - 11:59.Beggars
Bailiff!
I usually go to sleep
with the radio on. Last night was no exception.
Whilst listening to a
popular talk programme, I thought I heard mention of a new bill to be
discussed in the House of Commons which is to give bailiffs the right to
enter domestic properties to enforce credit card bill debts...without a
court order...
